Self Access Reading Resources for L2 Learners

The target students are High school 2^nd grade students. The textbook is published by 금성출판사.

The purpose of providing web reading resources includes both In-class use and Out-of class use. The reading categories are chapter-based. Within each category there are 4 different purpose-based reading categories: (1) Activate Schema, (2) Communicative Functions, (3) Reading Strategy, (4) Beyond the Text. Resources under the ‘Activate Schema’ category are reading passages and information to provide students with background knowledge related to the chapter. It can be used to create student interest and to prepare students for further reading. Resources under the ‘Communicative Functions’ category consists of reading passages that apply the communicative functions that are presented in the textbook. It provides authentic use of communicative functions. Resources under the ‘Reading Strategy’ category provide reading supplements for students to practice specific reading strategies. Resources under the ‘Beyond the Text’ category provide extra reading passages that provide more in depth information about the main reading passage. Overall, the Activate Schema category can be used for in-class purposes. The other three categories can be used for both in-class and out-of-class purposes. The resources can be flexibly used.
